What are classic eyelash extensions?
Classic Eyelash Extensionsare the original lash extension technique — and they’re all about giving you that beautiful, defined, mascara-like look without actually wearing mascara.
Classic lashes are applied using a 1:1 technique, which simply means one lash extension is carefully applied to one natural lash.
Think of it like enhancing what you already have. Your natural lashes stay visible and defined, but we add extra length, curl and darkness to make them look naturally fuller and more polished.
Because we are working with individual extensions rather than fans, Classic lashes give a more clean, separated and defined finish.
So how are Classics different from Volume?
The biggest difference is how many extensions are placed on each natural lash.
Classic = 1 extension → 1 natural lash
3D Volume = 3 lightweight extensions → 1 natural lash
Mega Volume = multiple ultra-lightweight extensions → 1 natural lash
Volume lashes use much finer extensions that are handmade into little fans. This allows us to safely place multiple extensions onto one natural lash, creating a much denser and darker appearance.
So, if Classics are your “I woke up like this but with mascara” lashes, Volume and Mega Volume take things further into a fuller, fluffier and more dramatic direction.
The right choice isn’t necessarily about which set is “better” — it’s about the look you want and what your natural lashes can comfortably support.

They give you the experience of having extensions without immediately committing to a very full or dramatic look.

You get the definition of mascara 24/7, without having to apply it every morning or worry about smudging and clumping.

Classics have a more clean, sleek and separated appearance.
If you love seeing each individual lash and want your lash line to look polished rather than super fluffy, Classics are a beautiful choice.

Classic extensions can look particularly gorgeous on clients who already have lots of natural lashes.
Because we apply one extension to each suitable natural lash, a fuller natural lash line gives us more lashes to work with — creating a beautifully dark and defined result without needing fans.
Will Classic lashes make my lashes look fuller?
Yes — but in a different way to Volume.
Classic extensions primarily enhance length, curl and definition.
They can absolutely make your lash line look darker and fuller, especially if you have a good amount of natural lashes to work with. However, they won’t create the same dense, fluffy effect as a Volume set.
This is because we’re not adding multiple extensions to each natural lash.
If your main goal is maximum fullness, Volume may be a better option.
If your goal is “I want my lashes to look like my lashes, but BETTER”, Classics are probably for you.
Are Classic extensions suitable for everyone?
Not necessarily — and that’s where your consultation comes in.
Before applying extensions, your natural lashes should always be assessed.
We look at things like:
- the length and thickness of your natural lashes
- how many natural lashes you have
- the strength and condition of your lashes
- your eye shape
- the look you’re wanting to achieve
Your natural lashes are the foundation of your set, so the extensions we choose need to be appropriate for your individual lashes.
Just because you see a certain lash length or style online doesn’t mean it’s necessarily suitable for your eyes or natural lashes.
Your lashes are not one-size-fits-all.
Will Classic extensions damage my natural lashes?
When extensions are properly selected, isolated and applied, they should not need to damage your natural lashes.
The health of your natural lashes is always more important than making your set as long or as dramatic as possible.
Each extension is attached to an individual natural lash, and as that natural lash naturally sheds, the extension sheds with it. This is completely normal and is one of the reasons you will notice some extensions falling out between appointments.
Damage can occur when lashes are improperly applied, overloaded, stuck together or pulled out prematurely. That’s why professional application and proper aftercare are so important.
Please don’t pick, pull or rip your extensions out. Your natural lashes will thank you!
How long do Classic extensions last?
Your extensions don’t have a fixed expiry date — they follow your natural lash cycle.
Your natural lashes are constantly growing and shedding, so when a natural lash reaches the end of its cycle, the extension attached to it will fall out too.
Most clients will benefit from an infill every 2–3 weeks to keep their set looking full and fresh.
Your retention can also be affected by things like your natural lash cycle, oil production, skincare, lifestyle and how well you look after your extensions.
Do I have to wear mascara with Classic extensions?
Absolutely not! That’s the whole point. 😂
Classic extensions are designed to give you that dark, defined mascara effect without needing to put mascara on every morning.
In fact, mascara isn’t recommended on your extensions because it can make them harder to clean and can interfere with their appearance and retention.
Wake up, brush your lashes, and you’re basically ready to go.
What will my Classic set actually look like?
This is where things get fun.
Classic does not mean that every client gets the exact same set.
Your lashes can be customised using different lengths and mapping styles to complement your natural lashes and your eye shape.
So two people can both have Classic extensions and walk away with completely different-looking sets.

And honestly? You can always go fuller next time.
It’s much easier to add drama than to wish you had started more natural. 🤍
How do I know if Classics are right for me?
Ask yourself:
“Do I want my lashes to look naturally enhanced, defined and mascara-ready?”
If the answer is yes, Classic extensions are probably your girl.
If you’re looking for a much fuller, fluffier or more dramatic lash line, you may prefer 3D Volume or Mega Volume.
